As the 2023 Texas A&M football season was underway, a new star was emerging in the SEC. Aggies quarterback Conner Weigman was a highly-touted recruit who won the starting job in College Station,

But just 3.5 games into the season, Weigman went down with an ankle injury and would be lost for the season.

"Toughest of news for A&M football. Per everything I've heard since yesterday and from sources very close to the situation, QB Conner Weigman's foot injury is, in fact, a season-ender for the emerging SEC star," TexAgs' Billy Liucci reported on X. "Weight-bearing bone and roughly a 3.5-month recovery."

Weigman was putting together a stellar season before his injury against Auburn. And now, just about 3.5 months after the September injury, the Aggies quarterback updated his recovery with TexAgs.

"Rehab has been good so far. The doctor called a couple of days ago. He looked at my CT scans and said the bones were all healed," Weigman said. "It was good to get cleared from him. We just need to start working with the training staff now, and it’s about getting back to feeling like myself again."

Conner indicated he's excited to get back with his teammates and work out with them.

"It’s exciting to be back with the team and do the same workouts with the guys. Being on the side by myself was pretty tough because I couldn’t be with my teammates and in the fire with them," Weigman said. "I’m excited about being back with them and getting the ball rolling again."

The biggest news this offseason in College Station surrounds new head coach Mike Elko and his staff. Weigman commented on the mood around the team with a new mindset that comes with Elko.

"The new regime is not playing around. I love it. There’s discipline in the little details. The little things matter because they all add up," said Weigman. "It’s cool to see how it’s all coming together quickly."

The Aggies kick off the season on Aug. 31 against Notre Dame at Kyle Field.
