Will more teams be added to college football playoffs?

The current college football contract doesn't end until after the 2025 regular season, but in a recent poll, a majority of athletic directors voted for an expanded playoff scenario.

In the survey conducted by Stadium, about 88 percent of athletic directors want an expanded playoff. Of those directors, 72 percent would like an eight-team model, 11 percent want 12-16 teams and five percent want it to remain at four teams.

“More teams in the playoff is good for fans and student-athletes,” a Power Five AD said, according to Stadium's Brett McMurphy.

Of course it would be good for athletes, fans and even the schools involved. Last season LSU and Oklahoma competed in the Peach Bowl while Ohio State and Clemson battled in Fiesta Bowl. LSU and Clemson advanced to the championship where Joe Burrow led the Tigers to a 42-25 victory over Clemson.

Sure, the college football playoffs are difficult, but if more teams were added it would make for a much more interesting race to see who's the best of the best.

An expanded playoffs would bring in more ticket and merchandise sales which, in turn, would help out the teams competing as well as the NCAA.

Quite honestly, there isn't really a downside to adding more teams to the playoff scenario... it would only make it more entertaining.
