The Wisconsin football program lost another defensive lineman to the transfer portal on Thursday.

Redshirt junior defensive lineman Mike Jarvis will enter the portal after three years with the Badgers.

“Reflecting on the past three years, my time at Wisconsin has been a journey filled with countless lessons and lifelong brotherhood that I’m forever grateful for,” Jarvis wrote. “But now, it’s time for a new chapter and opportunity to continue pursuing my life goals.”

The New Jersey native will have three seasons of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

Jarvis joined Wisconsin football as a part of the 2021 recruiting class. He was rated as a three-star prospect coming out of high school and chose the Badgers over offers from Indiana, Rutgers, Nebraska, Florida State, Syracuse, and several others.

Jarvis used a redshirt during his freshman year and did not see game action across three seasons.

The redshirt junior is among a large outgoing defensive line group for Wisconsin football. Shortly after the 2023 season ended, the Badgers lost contributors such as Rodas Johnson, Darian Varner, and Gio Paez. The Badgers were able to supplement some of their losses by bringing in Albany transfer Elijah Hills as well as some true freshmen in Dillan Johnson and Ernest Willor Jr.

Defensive line coach EJ Whitlow‘s group will now consist of James Thompson Jr., Elijah Hills, Curt Neal, Ben Barten, Cade McDonald, Jamel Howard, plus the aforementioned freshmen.

Jarvis is now the fifth Wisconsin football player to announce their intentions to enter the portal in the spring window, joining Nick Evers, TJ Bollers, Tommy McIntosh, and Gabe Kirschke.
