West Virginia became the fourth school to offer class of 2025 wide receiver Teriq Mallory (Cheshire, CT) over the weekend, joining Maryland, UConn, and UMass.

Mallory was pulled into head coach Neal Brown's office at the end of his visit where he and his family were able to ask questions and talk about the program. Before leaving, Brown told Mallory how much he loved his film and told him on the spot that he had been offered.

What happened after the offer will be a memory that Mallory will never forget.

"To be honest I am very happy because this offer means a lot to me. And on top of that, the person I look up to, Tavon Austin, called me. So I'm just really taking everything in and out of words."

Mallory told Mountaineers Now that Austin reached out to him on Instagram which led to 15-minute phone call between the two.

"It was a very shocking moment. I was all ears to what he had to say and the advice he was giving me. He told me to just take everything in and that everything is going to start coming fast but take everything in. Also, he said he is not just on the phone with me for me to choose WVU. He will support me wherever I go but he wants me to keep him in the loop and use him as a mentor as he guides me through the process. I didn’t have a connection to him before this but now I feel like he is taking me under his wing. He gave me phenomenal advice about life and I am really grateful."

West Virginia sits "pretty high" on Mallory's list and does plan on returning to WVU for another visit before making his decision this summer.

"I loved the WVU atmosphere and the experience. What stood out the most is how well I fit their offensive scheme and their goals as a program. When the head coach offered me I was very excited because I worked very hard for it and it's a coaching staff I would love to play for."
