West Virginia quarterback Nicco Marchiol announced Thursday afternoon that he has committed to a partnership with Country Roads Trust for the 2024 season, meaning he intends to remain at WVU.

Marchiol filled in for Garrett Greene in the first quarter of the Backyard Brawl and although he wasn't asked to do much, he managed the game extremely well and led the Mountaineers to a win. The following week, he got the start against Texas Tech and completed 12-of-21 passes for 78 and a touchdown but did throw two interceptions. He also added 72 yards on the ground off of 15 carries.

Marchiol is viewed as the starting quarterback in waiting behind Garrett Greene, who has one year of eligibility remaining.

The following players are committed to working with the Trust in 2024:

QB Garrett Greene, QB Nicco Marchiol, RB Jahiem White, WR Rodney Gallagher III, WR Preston Fox, WR Traylon Ray, TE Kole Taylor, OL Ja'Quay Hubbard, OL Nick Krahe, OL Nick Malone, OL Wyatt Milum, OL Tomas Rimac, OL Brandon Yates, OL Johnny Williams IV, DL Edward Vesterinen, DL Sean Martin, LB Ben Cutter, LB Trey Lathan, LB Josiah Trotter, S Aubrey Burks.
