Clemson player thought White House serving fast food ‘was a joke’

The Clemson football team visited the White House on Monday to be honored for winning another national championship, and the president proudly served the Tigers a buffet of fast food from some of the most popular chains in the United States. When one Clemson player got word of what the dinner spread would look like, he apparently didn’t believe it.

Cameras were rolling as Tigers players filled their plates with Big Macs, Baconators and french fries, and one member of the team could be heard saying “I thought it was a joke.”

No, it was not a joke. In fact, Donald Trump was quite enthusiastic about the cuisine, and he explained to reporters that he made the decision to serve fast food because of the government shutdown.

Trump, no stranger to interactions with the sports world, offered some analysis during the World Series this year. Despite that, plenty of teams have refused to visit the White House for a variety of reasons. If players on those teams love McDonald’s, they might be regretting their decision just a tiny bit.
