ESPN points out former Tennessee Vols player as an unexpected rookie that could be a star in 2025

ESPN pointed out a former Tennessee Vols standout as a non-first round selection from the 2025 NFL Draft that could "star" in 2025.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected former Vols defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott with the No. 63 overall pick in this year's draft. ESPN thinks Norman-Lott could be in line to receive plenty of "one-on-one rush reps" while playing in the Chiefs' defense.

From ESPN: Adding another defensive tackle was a priority for the Chiefs early in this draft, considering they lost Tershawn Wharton in free agency. Having another big body on the defensive line can make life easier for Chris Jones. Norman-Lott is a standout pass rusher from inside, showing disruptive up-field rush skills that helped him to 9.5 sacks over the past two seasons. Playing next to Jones should create plenty of one-on-one rush reps for him.

There were some analysts who felt like Norman-Lott was a first-round talent, but he fell to the second round due to playing limited snaps at Tennessee (Norman-Lott was part of a deep defensive line rotation for the Vols).

Norman-Lott will have to prove that he can play a higher number of snaps in the NFL while still being effective. If he can prove that, and there's no reason to think that he can't, then it's easy to see how the former Vol could develop into a star player. Norman-Lott's unique ability to play inside while also rushing the passer will give Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo some interesting options in 2025.
