Florida State roasted by former commit over Orange Bowl

Georgia’s dismantling of Florida State in the Orange Bowl had at least one top recruit feeling very relieved.

The Bulldogs beat Florida State 63-3 in a completely one-sided contest. One of those watching was five-star safety recruit KJ Bolden, who had originally committed to the Seminoles before flipping to Georgia on signing day.

In an interview with 247 Sports, Bolden admitted he was very happy that he had made his decision after watching what happened.

“It was crazy. I’m glad I’m not on the other side now, because that would have been bad,” Bolden said.

Florida State is catching strays from recruits now, but it’s definitely a little unfair. In addition to being without injured quarterback Jordan Travis, many of the team’s top players had opted out of the game for a variety of reasons.

As embarrassing as the game was, the Florida State team that played in it bore little resemblance to the one that went 13-0 in the regular season.

On the other hand, perception matters. The Seminoles will be in a somewhat awkward spot if other recruits watching came away with the same takeaway as Bolden.
