The Georgia Bulldogs landed a landmark commitment on Monday when five-star quarterback Jared Curtis announced he would return home to Nashville to play for his hometown school. Pete Nakos of On3 reports, the team will also be getting a special “hometown discount.”

"Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, who committed to the Bulldogs on Monday, has yet to sign a contract and negotiations remain ongoing between Georgia and his representation." Nakos wrote on Wednesday. "But Curtis, who will make less than $1 million in Year One, will take less money to stay closer to home and play for Georgia. Cantwell and Curtis have had conversations about playing together in college."

At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Curtis is the nation’s No. 1 quarterback prospect in the Class of 2026 and the first elite signal-caller to pledge to Kirby Smart’s program since Justin Fields in 2018.

Curtis’s decision hinges not just on geography but on the stability and coaching pedigree Georgia offers. He cited his strong rapport with offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and head coach Kirby Smart as decisive factors in his choice

Curtis even managed to catch Coach Smart off guard with a light-hearted prank call, crediting former UGA offensive coordinator Mike Bobo for inspiring his mischievous side.

"I actually called Coach Smart, messed with him a little bit, like, hey coach, I appreciate it, but, and then I couldn't go any further," Curtis told 247Sports national recruiting director Tom Loy following his commitment.

"He got really quiet, and then when I let him know, he got very excited, and started yelling a little bit, so that was good to hear," Curtis said. "So, I let him know, and he was pretty hyped. So, I'm excited for that."
