The Indiana Hoosiers won the biggest game of their season as they were able to secure a victory in the Big Ten Championship over the Ohio State Buckeyes. These teams were the top-two in the College Football Playoff rankings, while also being a battle of the undefeated teams. While this game did not matter in terms of making the College Football Playoff, this is going to affect seeding. Let’s take a closer look at the Indiana Hoosiers and what this means for them going into the College Football Playoff.

Indiana Hoosiers Win Big Ten Championship

The Indiana Hoosiers were able to prove their dominance as they were able to secure a 13-10 win over the Ohio State Buckeyes to win the Big Ten Championship. This is the first loss for the Buckeyes since losing ‘The Game’ last year to the Michigan Wolverines. The Hoosiers were able to snap the Buckeyes’ 16-game winning streak and a 30-game losing streak to the program dating back to 1988.

This game showcased the resiliency of the Hoosiers, but could have been a lot worse. Quarterback Fernando Mendoza was injured on the first offensive play but was able to return after missing one play. He was able to get the big play when the team needed it to secure the victory. This win now virtually locks the Indiana Hoosiers into the top spot in the College Football Playoff bracket and gives them a first-round bye. This would be significant as the team gets additional time to heal up and prepare as the top dogs.

Coach Curt Cignetti is having the program clicking as they enter the most important part of the season. It will be intriguing to see how far the Indiana Hoosiers are able to go in the College Football Playoff this year.
