The Lane Kiffin era officially began on Nov. 30, when the LSU Tigers announced his hiring after six seasons with the Ole Miss Rebels. Under his new deal, a seven‑year contract reportedly worth $91 million (about $13 million per year), expectations have rocketed in Baton Rouge for a rapid return to SEC relevance.
From the start, Kiffin has wasted no time reshaping the program. He has retained or attracted key assistants, including co‑offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Joe Cox, wide receivers/passing‑game coach George McDonald, quarterbacks coach Dane Stevens and strength coach Nick Savage — all moving from Oxford to Baton Rouge.
On Sunday, Kiffin added one of his most significant pieces yet.
According to Brett McMurphy of On3Sports, “Former Kentucky OL coach Eric Wolford hired as LSU’s OL coach… Wolford has been on SEC staffs the last 9 years at South Carolina, Alabama & UK.”
The addition is viewed internally as a major acquisition for Kiffin, given Wolford’s extensive SEC résumé and his reputation for developing pro-ready offensive linemen.

Wolford, whose resume includes stints with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers and top college programs like the Alabama Crimson Tide, has overseen units that consistently produced All-SEC performers. He will be expected to anchor LSU’s efforts to rebuild line play that has been inconsistent the last few seasons.
LSU ended the regular season 7-5 overall and 3-5 in SEC play, a performance that included the firing of Brian Kelly midway through the season. With the Tigers looking to regain their competitive footing in the conference, Wolford’s arrival adds experience and stability to one of the program’s most pressing areas.
