North Carolina to play Western Carolina on Dec. 11

To account for the lost Sept. 19 game versus the Charlotte 49ers, the North Carolina Tar Heels announced on Monday that the program will host the Western Carolina Catamounts on Dec. 11.

Charlotte canceled its matchup with North Carolina on Sept. 17 due to multiple positive coronavirus test results among players and subsequent quarantines.

As ESPN's Adam Rittenberg noted, Western Carolina plays in the Southern Conference of the FCS. That league postponed football and other fall sports last month due to the pandemic. The Catamounts are, however, currently scheduled to play three road games starting with a showdown at Liberty on Nov. 14.

Western Carolina goes against Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 21.

North Carolina opened its campaign with a dominant 31-6 win over Syracuse on Sept. 12. The Tar Heels play at Boston College this coming Saturday and, as things stand on Monday, end their regular season against Western Carolina.
