The Ole Miss football team has become known in recent years as a factory for turning out some of the most talented players in the country. Head coach Lane Kiffin is a masterful recruiter, and is considered by most to be among the best in the country at enticing players to join his program.
This year, the Rebels had 11 players attend the NFL scouting combine, and eight of them were selected during the 2025 NFL Draft. 12 more joined them at the professional level as undrafted free agents, which leaves a massive hole at Ole Miss for the 2025 season and beyond.
Kiffin is putting together an impressive group of players in the high school recruiting class of 2026, but he is also starting to put his fingerprints on the 2027 class. He already earned a commitment from offensive lineman Li’Marcus Jones from Callaway, Mississippi, and on Monday, another player made a pledge to Ole Miss.
According to On3 Sports, nationally-ranked cornerback Trae Collins commmitted to the Rebels. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound defensive back is a Hazelhurst, Mississippi, native and will make the short trek to Oxford to play college ball for Coach Kiffin.
Collins had offers to schools like Penn State, Kentucky and Pittsburgh, but he chose the Rebels, who will surely need help in the secondary over the coming years. Coach Kiffin is investing more in the high school recruiting trail, and it is already paying dividends.
