When Ohio State needed a quarterback over a year ago after Kyle McCord entered the transfer portal, Will Howard turned out to be exactly the player the Buckeyes needed under center. Everything worked out for McCord at Syracuse on the other side.

Not only did Howard have a strong season on the field, but he also proved to be a powerful leader. The Buckeyes likely wouldn’t have won the National Championship without him. When they needed him to step up during the College Football Playoff, he delivered.

After four seasons at Kansas State, Howard drew interest from several major programs, but ultimately, he chose Ohio State. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ newest quarterback recently made a bold statement about that decision.

Will Howard Sends Strong Message to Recruits Considering Ohio State

On Ben Roethlisberger’s “Footbahlin” podcast, Howard appeared alongside Jack Sawyer for an insightful conversation. Ohio State’s most recent starting quarterback made a strong declaration about the program — a statement that could easily double as a recruiting pitch.

“You want the beach and money, go to Miami. You want to play for National Championships, come to Ohio State!” Howard said.

Ohio State consistently recruits at an elite level, regularly landing top-five classes. In the transfer portal, Ryan Day has a strong track record of bringing in the players he targets. It isn’t that Ohio State needs any extra help in that department — but Howard was alluding to two programs in side rent places between Miami and Ohio State.

Now with the Steelers and competing for a role in Pittsburgh , Howard is still doing his part to support the Buckeyes — this time, with a pitch. Julian Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz are back in Columbus battling it out to see who gets to fill shoe of one of the strongest leaders to come through Columbus.
