Oklahoma sweeps Texas to win Women's College World Series

The Oklahoma Sooners capped their record-breaking season with a 16-1 win against Texas on Wednesday and a 10-5 win on Thursday to win the Women's College World Series. The title is the fifth for Oklahoma softball in the last nine years.

Texas needed a win Thursday to force Game 3 in the best-of-three series and started strong with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. But Oklahoma's Jayda Coleman ended the inning by robbing the Longhorns of what would've been a two-run home run.

Texas didn't score again until Mia Scott hit a three-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.

The Longhorns limited the damage done by star slugger Jocelyn Alo, holding her to just an RBI single and a walk. However, the Texas defense committed two errors and Oklahoma's Kinzie Hansen and Grace Lyons hit a pair of three-run home runs.

Oklahoma set a record earlier in the season by starting a perfect 38-0 before the streak ended with a shocking 4-2 loss to Texas in April. The Sooners finished the season with a 59-3 record.

Alo finished her collegiate career with 122 home runs, 27 more than any player has ever hit at the Division I level. She batted .512 in her final season with the Sooners, becoming the first player ever to finish with at least 30 home runs and a batting average above .500 in a single season.
