The fourth-wicket stand in the opening Test at Lord's became the highest partnership since coach Peter Moores took command, overhauling Bell and Matt Prior's 190 against West Indies at Lord's last year. Kevin Pietersen has been quiet in the build-up to the series, but he wasted little time to make the strongest of statements.
