Yashasvi Jaiswal has had an amazing series against England. In eight innings he has scored 655 runs at an average of 93.57. He has scored two fifties and two double centuries to reach this feat, with innings that saw his ability to stay in the crease and knowing when to attack.

Thanks to his recent performances, he is very close to breaking two records made by Indian legends. The first is the record of scoring the most runs in a series by an Indian, which is held by Sunil Gavaskar. In 1971, Gavaskar scored 774 in five Tests. Jaiswal needs 120 runs to break his incredible record.

If the southpaw manages to score another century, he could overtake Virat Kohli to score the most centuries against England in a series. If he manages one century, he will join Indian legends Rahul Dravid and Mohammad Azharuddin with three. If he manages to score twin centuries, he will have the most centuries against England in a series.

Devdutt Padikkal touted for Test debut in Dharamshala

Devdutt Padikkal was added to the Indian Test team after KL Rahul had to pull out due to injury. With Rahul not being available for the Dharamshala Test, the southpaw from Karnataka could become the 314th Indian to play Test Cricket.

With Rajat Patidar’s poor form continuing, the Indian team wanted to bring Rahul back, but his injury denied that opportunity. They also wanted to release Patidar so that he could play for Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy finals. But with no other middle order batter in the squad, they needed to keep Patidar in the team.

Padikkal has had an amazing time playing first class cricket in the past two months. In 7 matches, he has scored 777 runs in 10 innings, with an average of 77.7. This includes centuries against England Lions, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Goa.
