England lynchpin Jonny Bairstow was dismissed for a four-ball duck on the third day of the Rajkot Test against India. With this dismissal, he fetched an unwanted record for most ducks by any batter against India in Tests.

England’s score read 224 for 3 after Joe Root’s dismissal in the 40th over. In the 41st over, bowled by Kuldeep, the ball landed at a good length outside off and turned sharply. Bairstow’s bat was nowhere near the ball as he didn’t expect the ball to turn so dramatically, and he was rapped on the pads.

He reviewed the on-field umpire’s decision only for it to be squandered as the ball-tracker came up with three reds. This was Bairstow’s 8th duck against India in Tests. The England batter is followed by Danish Kaneria and Nathan Lyon, who have 7 ducks to their name each. Bairstow hasn’t had any impressive outings against India in this series.
