An old tweet by Royal Challengers Bengaluru has gone viral with months left for the 2024 T20 World Cup. In the tweet, the RCB admin asked fans what they thought about MS Dhoni’s statement regarding IPL parties.

The tweet came out on May 12, 2010, a day after India were knocked out of the 2010 T20 World Cup. India failed to win a single match in the Super 8’s and finished last in their group. MS Dhoni, the then Indian captain, blamed IPL parties for the loss, stating that players needed to rest and be smart.

Players also need to be smart, not only about cricket but about other things going around in the IPL. We have to respect your body and give some time for it to recover because there is more to it than playing matches. Attending parties and traveling takes a toll. MS Dhoni said

RCB, which was then owned by Vijay Mallya, tweeted out to find out what fans thought about the accusations. The franchise was then known for throwing extravagant after-match parties.

CSK coach reveals MS Dhoni is playing through an injury

MS Dhoni played the entire 2023 IPL with a knee injury, leading the team to their 5th IPL title. While many wondered if he’d be able to play the next season due to the injury, he had surgery and returned to play in the 2024 IPL. While many thought he had recovered, the CSK bowling coach Eric Simons revealed that the Indian legend is still playing with the injury

He's one of the hardest men I've ever come across. I don't even think we know to what extent he may or may not be in pain. He just carries on and does his thing.  Eric Simons in the post-match press conference

He added that Dhoni might have some niggles, but he has the ability to ignore the injuries. Simons joked that fans were more worried about injury than Dhoni himself.
