The IPL 2025 match between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala was abandoned after just 10.1 overs due to a floodlight failure, cutting short what had been a dominant display by the PBKS openers.
PBKS openers Prabhsimran Singh (50*) and Priyansh Arya (70) controlled the action, putting together an opening partnership of 122 runs off 61 balls in the 10.1 overs that were feasible.
Arya top-edged a slower-ball bouncer from T Natarajan against his helmet, which popped up for a straightforward catch, and dropped in the first ball of the eleventh over. The stadium's floodlights then failed, forcing the players off the field. Around 9:40 p.m. IST, the game was canceled. Before the interruption, PBKS had raced to 50 without loss in just four overs, with Arya and Prabhsimran taking apart Mitchell Starc and Dushmantha Chameera during the powerplay.
Kuldeep Yadav was also dismissed by the two after the powerplay, as they hammered him for two sixes and two fours. In the seventh over, Arya scored his third fifty-plus of the season with just twenty-five balls. In addition to becoming the first uncapped batsman to knock four consecutive half-centuries in the IPL, Prabhsimran reached his own fifty in the tenth over.
PBKS is scheduled to face Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 11 in Ahmedabad, a venue change from Dharamsala. DC will also host Gujarat Titans (GT) on the same day in Delhi.
