Punjab Kings all-rounder Harpreet Brar, known for his solid domestic record and consistent IPL performances, recently found himself at the centre of a humorous social media moment. While interacting with fans during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Brar met a man who claimed to be a big admirer. Amused, the cricketer asked for the fan’s phone—only to realise the person did not even follow him on social media.

Brar narrated the incident in a video that quickly went viral, saying, “I got a guy who told me, I am your fan. He gave me his phone & he is not even following me. This world is full of fake people.” When the man requested a selfie afterwards, Brar jokingly replied, “Now it is of no use. Come back the day after,” leaving fans online in splits.

Player Releases Ahead Of The IPL Mini Auction

As the viral clip made waves, the Punjab Kings were also in the news for their squad changes ahead of the upcoming IPL mini auction. The franchise released several prominent names, including Australian all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Hardie, along with domestic players Kuldeep Sen and Vishnu Vinod. Maxwell struggled in the recent season, playing only seven matches where he accumulated just 48 runs and claimed four wickets.

His tournament ended early due to a finger injury, leading the team to replace him with Mitchell Owen. Hardie, despite being bought for ₹1.25 crore, never got the chance to make his debut for the franchise and now finds himself among the released players. These decisions are part of Punjab Kings’ strategy to restructure ahead of the auction scheduled in Abu Dhabi on December 16.

Domestic Players Who Missed Out

Among the Indian names released were right-arm pacer Kuldeep Sen and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod. Both players were part of the squad that reached the IPL 2025 final but did not feature in a single match during the season. Sen, acquired for ₹80 lakh during the mega auction ahead of IPL 2025, remained unused throughout the campaign.

Vinod, who joined the franchise in the previous season, last made an IPL appearance in 2023 when he was part of the Mumbai Indians camp. Despite being involved in team preparations, neither player found a place in the matchday line-ups, leading to their release as the Punjab Kings look to refresh their roster for the upcoming season.
