Andrew Gilding adds unwanted milestone after losing European Tour Final

Once again Andrew Gilding lost a final on the Pro Tour Sunday night. In the final of the European Darts Grand Prix, 'Goldfinger' was thrashed 8-0 by Gary Anderson.

Although Gilding sensationally won the 2023 UK Open by defeating Michael van Gerwen in the final, his tally on the Pro Tour still stands at zero titles. Despite this, Gilding has already had chances to add a title.

It was already his second lost Euro Tour final for Gilding, after losing to Dave Chisnall in the 2022 Belgian Darts Open final. In addition, he also had to settle in four floor finals already. These he lost to Gary Anderson (2014), Stephen Bunting (2014), Danny Jansen (2022) and Danny Noppert (2022).

Gilding has now become part of the select group of players who have played the most Pro Tour finals but have never won a title on the Pro Tour. In addition to Gilding, Ricky Evans, Wayne Jones and Gabriel Clemens all played six Pro Tour finals without winning one. Unlike these three names, Gilding fortunately still has a major title on his record and such an award is even more prestigious.
