While promoting Happy Gilmore 2, Adam Sandler discussed working with Travis Kelce and how "incredible" Taylor Swift is.
While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, he expressed, "Taylor’s so damn nice to my family and has always been." He added how his daughters have both met the singer/songwriter.
"Taylor’s incredible," the actor commented. "She’s ridiculously nice to them and warm." As for Kelce, he shared, "Travis is such a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell. He’s like the guys I grew up with. When I was with Travis, it reminded me of my buddies in high school and just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say."
While on Jason and Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast last August, Sandler had said, "Dude, she means so much to our house." He continued to reveal, "I do get nervous around Taylor Swift, because I don’t want to f------ blow it for my kids and say something stupid."
"I love what she had to say … what she meant to young girls, what she means to women, what she means to guys doing the right thing in life," he praised, noting how Swift "took her time" while meeting Sadie and Sunny on the Saturday Night Live set. "She just floors my family."
They even attended the premiere for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
The sequel's all-star cast included a lot of other cameos too, including Bad Bunny, Scott Mescudi, and multiple professional golfers. The reason? Julie Bowen commented that "everybody wanted to be in it," so according to Sandler, it wasn’t "too difficult" to pull off.
Originally, the film had a "massive part" for Carl Weathers to return as Chubbs Peterson, but a "painful change" had to take place after the actor died on February 2, 2024. "I would talk to Carl, and we were excited, and then Carl passed away. We had to rewrite a lot of the stuff, and even what the story was. We made a lot of nice references to how great Chubbs was in the movie. That was the biggest change," Sandler told Collider. "In the first version that we came up with, he had a son. He was coming back to me a lot in my dreams, and he had a son who was mad at Happy for causing the death of daddy."
Happy Gilmore 2 will be released July 25 on Netflix.
