Ariana Grande replacing Nick Jonas as coach on 'The Voice' next season

The Voice has been going strong on NBC since its April 2011 debut, but the coaching chairs have often been revolving doors. The singing competition series features four coaches at a time, and after Adam Levine's exit in spring 2019 to conclude a 16-season run, Blake Shelton is the only original coach still standing.

Ariana Grande announced Tuesday morning there will be another shakeup next season, as she will replace Nick Jonas—joining Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend on the spinning-chairs panel:

Clarkson has become a regular on the show. The songstress and daily talk show host joined the cast in 2018 for Season 14, which she won with Brynn Cartelli, and has remained. Season 21 will be Legend's fifth in a row since joining in early 2019. Jonas had two separate stints as a coach, first for Season 18 and then for the current 20th season.

Legend and Jonas swiftly welcomed Grande aboard:

And Arianators promptly freaked out:

Grande has earned the right to sit back and relax. Positions debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking her fifth time topping the chart, while its title track achieved the same feat on Billboard's Hot 100. The 27-year-old became Spotify's most-streamed female soloist last December, so in other words, she has plenty of wisdom to impart on Season 21's contestants.

The other Voice  coaches over the years have been Christian Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Shakira, Usher, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell, Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson.
