Colin Jost was afraid Scarlett Johansson would spoil 'Black Widow' for him

Black Widow will hit theaters for everybody July 9, and Colin Jost will presumably be relieved.

Scarlett Johansson stopped by The Jess Cagle Podcast with Julia Cunningham for an upcoming episode, as relayed by Entertainment Tonight, and shared that her husband went out of his way to avoid her spoiling the Marvel Studios prequel while she was filming it.

"He doesn't like any spoilers, though, so I can't tell him anything," the two-time Oscar-nominated actress, who has portrayed Natasha/Black Widow in eight films since Iron Man 2 in 2010. "And he doesn't even pry."

Johansson continued:

"When we were shooting this film in London, Colin was also there shooting. He was doing Tom and Jerry, which worked out great because we were together in the same city for a long time, which is rare. If I was in the middle of a big action set piece or sequence or whatever, he couldn't hear [it]. He just was not wanting to hear anything—anything!—about it. ... Of course, he wants to know, 'How was your day?' But as soon as it would bleed into, 'Can you read this scene with me?' He was like, 'Am I gonna get any spoilers?' He wanted to know spoiler alerts before we read lines together.

Johansson and Jost, known best as the "Weekend Update" anchor on Saturday Night Live, married last October after getting engaged in May 2019 and two years of dating before that.

Black Widow chronicles Natasha "in her quests between" 2016's Captain America: Civil War (2016) and 2018's Avengers: Infinity War (h/t IMDb).
