Courtney Love: I love acting, but quit because of 'a bunch of #MeToos'

Courtney Love shot to global fame in the 1990s as the lead vocalist of alternative/grunge rock band Hole—plus a highly publicized marriage to late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain—but she most recently gave voice to why she stepped away from her career as an actress.

"For a few years, because of Milos Forman, I was a professional actress and a movie star," Love captioned an Instagram photo carousel Thursday night. "It was fun as hell. I was nominated for best actress, for a Golden Globe .. One day I might talk about it . I love acting ... I stopped being capable of it after a bunch of #metoos . No one would believe me, and it wouldn’t stop. So I left, and it left. And I’m good with it."

In Hollywood, Love established herself in The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996) and Julie Johnson (2001). The 56-year-old was nominated at the 1997 Golden Globes (best performance by an actress in a drama motion picture) for her work as Althea Flynt opposite Woody Harrelson's Larry Flynt in the Oscar-nominated biopic.

Love has still appeared on television in more recent years, with episode arcs in Sons of Anarchy (2014), Empire (2015) and Revenge (2015). She also portrayed Kitty Menendez in Lifetime's 2017 Menendez: Blood Brothers TV movie.

Love was married to Cobain from 1992 up until his tragic apparent suicide April 5, 1994. The couple had one daughter, Frances Bean, who is now 28 years old. Frances served as an executive producer on Cobain: Montage of Heck, a 2015 documentary about her late father's hectic and often tortured life and career.
