Cynthia Nixon slams Andrew Cuomo while confirming she won't run for office again

The cast of And Just Like That... has been sworn to Marvel-level secrecy, so Cynthia Nixon couldn't say much about what her character Miranda has been up to since Sex and the City, but she didn't hesitate at all when asked if she would ever consider running for political office again.

"No," the two-time Emmy nominee said. "No, because I ran for office against Andrew Cuomo 'cause I didn't think he should be our governor, and nobody else would run or could run because if you were in politics, notoriously vindictive man. You couldn't run against him, being in politics, without having your career ended."

"But luckily, we ran, and ninety percent of our platform has been enacted in the last four years since we ran," Nixon continued. "And he is now out of office. Everything and more that I was hoping to accomplish has been accomplished."

Nixon announced her bid for governor in New York in March 2018, but she ultimately lost to incumbent Cuomo that September.

Cuomo resigned this August after a number of sexual harassment allegations came out against him.

As for Miranda, Nixon shared that her beloved character is still living in Brooklyn with her husband, Steve (David Eigenberg), and now-17-year-old son, Brady (Niall Cunningham).

"I guess I would say that Miranda in the last few years, particularly during the Trump administration, has kind of had an awakening and a change of heart and is maybe done with corporate law," she teased.

HBO Max premiered the first two episodes of its SATC limited revival series Thursday (Dec. 9), which showed Miranda enrolling in school for human rights law.

New And Just Like That... episodes will hit the streamer every Thursday until Feb. 3, 2022.
