Dave Grohl and his mom to host new series 'From Cradle to Stage'

Dave Grohl is a boisterous frontman, but that doesn't mean he can't still follow his mother's lead.

Wednesday, Paramount Plus announced it will host a new unscripted six-part series titled From Cradle to Stage during its launch event with ViacomCBS. The project is based upon the 2017 book From Cradle to Stage: Stories from the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars by Virginia Hanlon, Grohl's mother.

"The series is a dynamic personal exploration of the special relationship between successful musicians and their moms," CBS' roundup of the ViacomCBS Streaming Event explained. "Each episode features a famous performer and their mom, as well as Dave and Virginia." Grohl is also the series' director.

Grohl began his ascension as Nirvana's drummer in the early 1990s. After frontman Kurt Cobain unexpectedly died in April 1994, Grohl departed the band and started Foo Fighters. The latter has gone on to release 10 studio albums, and their extensive catalog has resulted in 11 Grammy Awards

The band most recently dropped Medicine at Midnight earlier this month, and they are currently nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as part of the 2021 class.

From Cradle to Stage will be part of an impressive musical lineup at Paramount Plus. The streamer is also reviving legendary MTV programs Behind the Music, Unplugged and Yo! MTV Raps. CBS All Access will officially rebrand as Paramount Plus on March 4.
