Legendary like what they see from Denis Villeneuve because the studio and three-time Academy Award nominee have two more potential projects on the cards.
Variety has revealed that Legendary has confirmed they are working on developing a third Dune film with Villeneuve.
Dune: Part Two hit theaters in March and has since grossed $631 million at the global box office.
The film, starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, follows on from his 2021 movie Dune, which sees a family embroiled in a war for control over the galaxy's most valuable asset.
The third instalment in the Dune series will likely be an adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel Dune: Messiah, which takes place twelve years into Paul Atreides' reign as Emperor.
Variety also said that Villeneuve is also in talks at Legendary to adapt Nuclear War: A Scenario, a book from Anne Jacobsen that deep dives into the handful of minutes after a nuclear missile is launched.
The non-fiction book was optioned by Legendary, and Villeneuve is their top pick for collaborator on the project.
Nuclear War: A Scenario only hit shelves on March 26 and has been described as "essential reading, and unlike any other book in its depth and urgency".
Jacobsen is a Pulitzer Prize finalist and author behind books such as Area 51, The Pentagon's Brain, Operation Paperclip and Surprise, Kill, Vanish: The Secret History of CIA.
