Denzel Washington laments Cowboys' disastrous loss to 49ers: 'There was some profanity'

The Dallas Cowboys found the most excruciating way to end their season, and Denzel Washington is hurt.

The two-time Oscar winner began his visit with Jimmy Kimmel on Monday (Jan. 17) by shaking his head in disbelief and admitting that "there was some profanity" involved when he watched Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott scramble with just 14 seconds left—the team had no timeouts remaining—and the Cowboys trailing the San Francisco 49ers 23-17:

As we all know (but still can't believe), time expired before Dallas could get one more snap off, which means that the Cowboys are out of the postseason yet again—while the Niners move on to face the Green Bay Packers in this weekend's divisional round.

"I've been a Cowboy fan since I was about six," Washington, 67, told Kimmel. "I'm a real Cowboy fan, and that was a mess. That was a mess."

Kimmel followed up by asking if Washington would rather win an Oscar this year or see the Cowboys win their first Super Bowl since the 1995 season. Washington smiled and appeared to mouth that he would rather see Dallas exorcise its playoff demons.

Whichever Washington actually prefers, it's likely that he will at least be nominated at the 2022 Oscars for his titular role in The Tragedy of Macbeth.
