Drew Barrymore, ex-husband Tom Green come face-to-face for first time in nearly 20 years

Drew Barrymore delivers the news of the day on "The Drew Barrymore Show" in a segment called "Drew's News," and the headliner Tuesday was that her ex-husband Tom Green joined her in studio.

It marked the first time they had seen each other in person in nearly 20 years.

Barrymore and Green were briefly married in early 2001 before Green filed for divorce that December. The 50-year-old funnyman previously joined "The Drew Barrymore Show" in September 2020, but it was a virtual visit made to look face-to-face with "a special green screen technology."

The exes reminisced this week on the honeymoon road trip they took together throughout Ireland, which Barrymore labeled it as "one of my favorite trips of my life."

"It's sort of a little bit like an out-of-body experience," Green said when asked by co-host Ross Mathews how it felt to be face-to-face with Barrymore after so long. "It's very nice to see you. Really, it does feel weird, though. Not weird in a bad way. Weird in a good way."

"Well, I respect and love you," Barrymore added.

Last September, their first time talking in about 15 years, their conversation was much deeper and traversed the details of their former relationship.

"I really love you and I celebrate you," the actress-turned-host told Green during that September show, later adding, "You’ve had a whole life, and I’ve had a whole life. It’s just really nice to come together and check-in and talk about it. It just thrills me to no end. I think the world of you, and I celebrate you. I always have and I always will."

Barrymore and Green initially met on the set of "Charlie's Angels" in 2000.

Green was Barrymore's second husband. She was first married to Jeremy Thomas (1994-95) and later to Will Koppelman (2012-16), with whom she shares two daughters.

"We just were young, and we were kind of idiots," Barrymore told Howard Stern in February, explaining why her marriage to Green didn't last. "I was 26. I didn't know how to manage myself. I've always said I was a woman in the boardroom and a child in the bedroom, and what I mean by that was I could always handle my professional endeavors. I could go into a studio and pitch why we were the right people, but I didn't know how to handle things in my personal life."

"The Drew Barrymore Show" is currently airing its second season. For more on how to watch daily episodes, click here.
