'Grey's Anatomy' renewed for Season 19, Ellen Pompeo reaches new deal

Grey's Anatomy is still on winter break until Feb. 24, but fans have something to celebrate while waiting for Season 18 to resume.

The iconic show has been renewed for one more season:

The announcement comes after Ellen Pompeo, who has starred as the titular Dr. Meredith Grey since the 2005 debut of television's longest-running primetime medical drama of all time, reached a new deal to return for at least one more season (h/t The Hollywood Reporter)—despite Pompeo recently admitting, perhaps jokingly, that she has "been trying to focus on convincing everybody that it should end."

Along with Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. are the only remaining original cast members, and Pickens and Wilson also each reached "multi-year pacts."

"After all these years, Grey’s Anatomy remains ABC’s top-rated show, and in the 18-to-49 demographic, it’s tied for No. 1 as broadcast television’s top-rated drama," Variety additionally relayed.

Grey's Anatomy airs Thursdays on ABC.
