Hailey Bieber launches YouTube channel: 'I get to control what’s going out there'

Justin Bieber is gearing up to release his sixth studio album, Justice, next week, but his wife beat him to the punch.

Hailey Rhode Baldwin Bieber—"that is a freaking mouthful"—announced her new bi-weekly YouTube channel Friday through an exclusive interview with Variety.

"With the YouTube channel, I get to control what’s going out there," the 24-year-old model said. "I’m comfortable with every single piece of content going out, and that really feels freeing for me because I’m not in control of 90 percent of what’s talked about me and said about me and articles written about me. I don’t control that and I can’t control it, and I think I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve let that go."

The channel, produced alongside OBB Pictures officially launched Friday with three videos, including the first of what will be a recurring segment called "Who's In My Bathroom?":

Kendall Jenner, fellow supermodel and longtime best friend to Bieber, was the first the visit the bathroom. The duo sat in the middle of the bathroom and cooked mac and cheese while bantering and giggling. When talking to Variety, Bieber explained how the concept formed and revealed who her dream guest is:

"When you’re getting ready with your friends to go out at night, you’re in the bathroom. When you’re in a relationship with someone, you guys are in the bathroom at the end of the night brushing your teeth together and chatting about your day. I just feel like it’s a place where so much genuine conversation happens in real life. And that’s why I wanted to base it off of that.

"It would be cool if I could have LeBron James in my bathroom, and we’re just decorating cupcakes or doing something so silly and weird that [people] would be like, 'Why is this person sitting in a bathroom, making mac ‘n cheese or decorating cupcakes?'"

OBB is founded and run by director Michael D. Ratner, who was behind Justin Bieber's record-breaking YouTube 10-part docuseries Seasons as well as the follow-up special Next Chapter. OBB, founded in 2016, has also produced Kevin Hart's Cold as Balls series and the forthcoming four-part Demi Lovato YouTube documentary Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil.
