'How I Met Your Father' pays homage to 'How I Met Your Mother' in premiere

Talks of a How I Met Your Mother spin-off date back to 2014 (h/t Deadline), but How I Met Your Father is finally here.

The Hulu series premiered its first two episodes Tuesday (Jan. 18), and diehard HIMYM fans should be very satisfied by how the first episode ended:

HIMYM aired for nine seasons from 2005-14 and starred Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Neil Patrick Harris, Cobie Smulders and Alyson Hannigan. Off camera, Bob Saget narrated the series as the older version of Radnor's Ted Mosby as he recounts the story to his children of how he met their mother. (HIMYF dedicated its premiere to Saget, who died unexpectedly Jan. 9.)

HIMYF  stars Hilary Duff as Sophie — and Sex and the City legend Kim Cattrall as the on-camera narrator and future version of Sophie telling her son how she met his father. The ensemble cast features Tom Ainsley, Christopher Lowell, Francia Raisa, Suraj Sharma and Tien Tran.
