Jason Statham eager for return to the 'Fast and Furious' franchise: 'I'm game'
The world nearly exploded when the trailer for F9, the ninth installment of the record-breaking Fast & Furious franchise, revealed beloved character Han (Sung Kang) to be alive despite this scene depicting his death in a car crash.
Jason Statham, who portrayed Deckard Shaw in Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7 (2015) and The Fate of the Furious (2017) wants next, as two more installments directed by Justin Lin will follow F9 to close out the series.
"I'm game," Statham told Entertainment Weekly. "I love Justin Lin, he's a great director. It's a shame because when I joined the franchise all those years back, he went on to do something else and all I did with Justin was a little tag at the end. I need to do a movie with him. And I'd love to see all the Fast crew, Vin [Diesel] and everybody, they're all great people. I have a lot of affection for them."
Han initially died in Tokyo Drift (2006), but the scene was revisited once and for all in Fast & Furious 6, where it was revealed that Statham's Shaw had been driving the car responsible for Han's fate:
"They better bring me back, because I need to put out that fire," Statham added to EW. "If [Han]'s got any score to settle, it's with me."
While the 53-year-old actor is not part of F9 (due out June 25), he is the leading man for the Guy Ritchie-directed Wrath of Man (due out May 7).
