John Corbett confirms Aidan will be in HBO Max's 'Sex and the City' reboot
Talk about a pesky ex.
It's been nearly 20 years since Aidan Shaw (John Corbett) and Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) called off their engagement in the fifteenth episode of Sex and the City's fourth season that aired Jan. 20, 2002, but Corbett revealed to Page Six's Hannah Sparks that Aidan will be around in some capacity for the upcoming HBO Max limited series revival.
"I'm going to do the show," he said, adding that he thinks he "might be in quite a few" of the 10 planned episodes.
Carrie ultimately ends up with Mr. Big (Chris Noth), but it remains unclear if Noth will reprise the character. Aidan moved on from Carrie to marry and have three children, so it will be interesting to see how he's positioned in the reboot.
Sex and the City ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2004 on HBO, winning eight Golden Globes. The Darren Starr creation also got two full-length films in 2008 and 2010. HBO Max's reboot (titled "And Just Like That...") was reported by Variety on Jan. 10, the same day Parker confirmed with an Instagram teaser video:
According to an HBO Max release (h/t USA Today ), the limited series will also be based in New York City and work from the same premise of following three best friends Carrie, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kirstin Davis) as "they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s"—with one notable exception.
Kim Cattrall will not return as Samantha. This isn't surprising because she had previously denounced the working environment on Sex and the City, publicly feuded with Parker, and asserted she would "never" work for the franchise again.
