Judge rules to end Britney Spears' conservatorship after 13 years

Free Britney rings true today.

Multiple outlets first reported that Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny has ruled to terminate Britney Spears' court-ordered conservatorship, which began in October 2008.

Spears' attorney, Mathew Rosengart, confirmed the news:

Earlier Friday, Britney and fiancé Sam Asghari wore matching "#FreeBritney" tees:

Momentum had shifted toward a termination of the conservatorship after Spears' delivered a powerful, revelatory 24-minute statement on June 23—her first time addressing the court in two years.
