Leonardo DiCaprio has an Oscar and over 40 credits on his resumé, but one thing he has never done? A superhero movie.

But the Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder revealed to Josh Horowitz on Happy Sad Confused that he almost got DiCaprio to break his "no superheroes" rule for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Horowitz asked Snyder about the casting of Lex Luthor for Batman v. Superman, listing off the potential candidates for the role Jesse Eisenberg ended up playing.

"There was talk that the studio wanted Tom Hanks, that Adam Driver was meeting with you," Horowitz said, to which Snyder responded nonchalantly, "I think I did talk to Adam on the phone, yep... Leonardo DiCaprio I talked to about it".

Horowitz jumped on the opportunity to prod for further information, saying, "Zack, you can't just drop these bombshells on me. What was that conversation? Was Leo intrigued at all?"

"I think so.... he had a lot of great ideas actually just in the meeting. I think, in the end, he was like, 'you know, I don't know', but he was really smart about the material and really smart about the character," Snyder said. "I think he was the one that mentioned to me this idea about Superman fighting the Justice League at some point".

So there you have it. There's an alternate timeline where Leonardo DiCaprio did a superhero movie.
