Michael C. Hall on 'Dexter' reboot: 'Time to find out what happened to him'
It has been almost eight years since Dexter ended its eight-season run on Showtime to mostly lukewarm reaction, and Micheal C. Hall is cautiously excited to bring Dexter Morgan back to life.
"I’m looking forward to getting back into Dexter’s shoes," Hall told NME's John Earls in an interview with his Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum bandmates, published Tuesday. "I don’t really know what to expect, as I’ve never returned to a job after so much time. Having Dexter in a completely different context, we’ll see how that feels. It’s been interesting to figure out how to do that and I thought it was time to find out what the hell happened to him."
Showtime revived Dexter as a 10-episode limited series, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter's Rick Porter in October, and a fall 2021 premiere is expected. Porter relayed that, along with Hall reprising his leading role, original showrunner Clyde Phillips will also return.

Dexter revolved around Hall as a something of a double agent: Miami police forensics expert by day, serial killer by night. Hall earned a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the titular character. While Dexter Morgan didn't get the send off that fans would have preferred, Phillips hopes to make things write with this reboot. "This isn't Dexter season nine," Phillips told the TV's Top 5 podcast, in part. "This was an opportunity to write a second finale for the show."
As for whether the next 10 episodes will be the definitive end to the award-winning series, Hall wouldn't definitively say.
