Michael Keaton still fits into original 1989 'Batman' suit: 'Svelte as ever'
Michael Keaton is slipping back into Batman as if no time has passed, despite the fact he debuted in the role with 1989's "Batman" and last played the iconic superhero in 1992's "Batman Returns."
On "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," the late-night host asked Keaton if he fit into his original Batsuit. "I did," the 70-year-old actor confirmed.
"Did they have to let it out?" Colbert countered.
"No!" Keaton said, jokingly offended. "No, no, no. Svelte as ever, man. Same dimension, or same fitting."
"It was great," Keaton continued. "I don't know how many there are. Like, 77 Batmans. They probably should form their own union."
Keaton previously told Jimmy Fallon that playing Batman again was "like riding a bike."
It was confirmed in April that Keaton would be returning as Batman/Bruce Wayne in "The Flash," directed by Andres Muschietti, and Ben Affleck is also reprising his Batman role for the film.
"'The Flash' takes inspiration from the Flashpoint arc from DC Comics, which sees the Scarlet Speedster running so fast using the speed force that he actually teleports to different parallel realities," Entertainment Weekly explained. "It's a concept teased in Snyder's "Batman v Superman" and the recently released Snyder Cut of "Justice League" on HBO Max. That explains the multiple Batmen.
Affleck has played Batman in three films, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016), "Justice League" (2017) and Zack Snyder's "Justice League" (2021). The latest actor to be cast as the Caped Crusader is Robert Pattinson for Matt Reeves' upcoming "The Batman."
