Milo Ventimiglia predicts 'everybody's gonna be crying' when 'This Is Us' wraps
The stars of This Is Us are filming their sixth and final season, Milo Ventimiglia is bracing himself.
"I think everybody's aware and understands and hopefully is soaking it up the way that I'm soaking it up," the 44-year-old actor told Extra. "It hasn't gotten emotional yet. I'm sure it will. I'm sure there's gonna be plenty of tears. I think everybody's gonna be crying."
Ventimiglia instantly became everybody's new favorite TV dad when This Is Us debuted on NBC in 2016. The three-time Primetime Emmy nominee stars as Jack Pearson, husband to Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore) and father to Kate (Chrissy Metz), Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown), otherwise known as the "Big Three."
Sterling [K. Brown] can't do anything but cry on the show," Ventimiglia added. "Chrissy Metz cries. Mandy Moore gets emotional. Justin Hartley? Don't see a tear coming out of that man's eyes."
Kate, Kevin and Randall are also portrayed as children and teenagers by different actors, as the record-breaking drama chronicles the Pearson family across many decades and generations.
"Everybody's excited," Ventimiglia told Us Weekly recently. "It's senior year—or, you know, extension year! Everyone's excited. Everyone feels good. You can tell everyone is present, and it’s the same well-oiled machine that we’ve been a part of for the last five years. I think everybody is grateful to be able to wrap it up the way that [creator] Dan Fogelman and the writers planned. Beyond that, [we’re excited to just] have fun and enjoy ourselves and be together as a group because this is the last go around."
Fogelman has made it clear for years that he didn't create This Is Us as a "television series that was going to last 18 seasons" and indicated around the Season 3 finale that was "the midpoint" (h/t The Hollywood Reporter).
Season 6 was officially announced as the series' last season in May, and it will premiere in early 2022.
"I was just on set with Dan about two weeks ago, and he was talking about some things that I didn't know about the end," Ventimiglia added to Us. "I was there with Mandy. We just kind of looked at each other, like, one, excited to get into it, and two, incredibly devastated as human beings because this is probably gonna wreck people in the most heartfelt way. It's beautiful. I'm so excited."
