Sony Studios’ Morbius, starring Jared Leto, returned to theaters this past weekend and flops again after a poor original release.

After a flurry of memes and puns sarcastically calling for a Morbius sequel, Sony Studios decided to try and capitalize on the perceived interest but to no avail.

According to Forbes, the Jared Leto comic book film grossed $85K on Friday as it appeared in over 1,000 theaters. This is despite Leto’s attempt to be in on the joke and promote the movie’s “triumphant” return to theaters on his social media pages.

Needless to say, a Morbius sequel will likely not be in the works anytime soon. At the very least, the audience does have a more favorable view of the film than most critics.

Morbius originally hit theaters on April 1st and hauled in just under $73 million domestically during its entire run.
