Ryan Gosling shared an all-timer of a story in an interview with Variety, where he revealed a surprising reaction from a giant of cinema to his recent action comedy movie The Fall Guy.
Gosling revealed that during this year's Golden Globes, he "saw Steven Spielberg walking in [his] direction".
He said, "I don't know Steven Spielberg. I thought there's no way he's coming to talk to me. And yet he kept getting closer, and then I thought, I know what's going to happen. I'm going to point to him, and he's going to go, 'Not you, behind you,' so I'm not going to do that. Finally, I said, 'Me?' and he goes, "Yeah, you." I go, 'I'm sorry I didn't think you were coming to talk to me.' And I stood up, and he gave me a hug and said, 'I just saw Fall Guy, and I loved it.'"
So, The Fall Guy has the Spielberg stamp of approval. Gosling said, "It doesn't matter anymore what happens" because "Steven Spielberg liked it."
Due to hit theaters in May following a premiere at the South by Southwest Film Festival this month, The Fall Guy follows stuntman Colt Seavers, who left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health. He's drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie, which is being directed by his ex, goes missing.
Gosling stars alongside Emily Blunt, Teresa Palmer, Hannah Waddingham, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Stephanie Hsu, Lee Majors and Winston Duke.
"I'm really excited for people to see it. I think it's a really special movie," Gosling told Variety.
Reviews remain under embargo, so we'll have to wait and see if audiences love The Fall Guy as much as Spielberg did.
