Pete Davidson, Jon Stewart headline 'NYC Still Rising' 9/11 charity event

It's difficult to comprehend that this Sept. 11 will mark 20 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Pete Davidson and Jon Stewart are honoring the somber anniversary the best way they know how: benefitting "various 9/11 charities" through a comedy event at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 12, according to Deadline.

"NYC Still Rising After 20 Years: A Comedy Celebration will bring together some of Stewart and Davidson’s famous friends including Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr, Colin Jost, Tom Segura, Wanda Sykes, Colin Quinn, Dave Attell, Jay Pharoah, Jimmy Fallon, John Mulaney, Ronny Chieng, Michael Che, and Amy Schumer," the outline relayed, noting that proof of full COVID-19 vaccination will be a requirement for attendance.

Davidson has always been very vocal about losing his firefighter father, Scott Davidson, when he responded after one of the hijacked airplanes collided with the World Trade Center.

The 27-year-old Saturday Night Live star channeled his grief into last summer's The King of Staten Island, loosely based on his arrested development as an adolescent in the aftermath of his dad's death. Davidson's character in the Judd Apatow-directed dramedy is named Scott.

Stewart, meanwhile, was at the forefront of getting the the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund passed by Congress in 2019. Discovery Plus will premiere the corresponding No Responders Left Behind documentary Sept. 9. Watch the trailer below.
