Quavo rubbing shoulders with Malkovich and De Niro in feature-film debut

"I'd rather be rich," Quavo proclaimed in the second verse of Migo's 2013 track "Rich Then Famous (Intro)". "You can have the fame, you can have the gold chain." The next seven years would allow for the 29-year-old to enjoy all three as Migos launched into the highest hip-hop stratosphere through hits such as "Bad and Boujee," "Walk It Talk It" and "Versace." Now, Quavo is bolstering his status independently in a more unsuspecting way than his 2018 solo album Quavo Huncho.

Variety's Jem Aswad broke the news Thursday morning that Quavo will make his feature-film debut in the Randall Emmett-directed Wash Me in the River. The Atlanta native may be a rookie actor, but he will already share a screen with some of Hollywood's most iconic stars in Robert De Niro and John Malkovich.

"I honestly think this movie is going to be one of the greatest to come of this time," Quavo told Variety. "The experience was unbelievable for me, with Robert De Niro and Jack Huston being so down to earth and making me feel like family. Gonna see me doing some stunts and a lot of what you hear from me in my raps! This is one of my biggest debuts I've ever had, and so proud of what we did and to get to work with Randall, who's such an amazing guy—I can't wait to do more films with him."

In Wash Me in the River, which is still filming in Puerto Rico, Quavo will portray a drug lord named Coyote who is responsible for selling drugs that resulted in a death. Aswad described the film as an "action-thriller," and the plot revolves around a recovering opioid addict seeking revenge.

Quavo is following in his Migos group-mate's footsteps, as Offset was announced in November to be making his film acting debut in the upcoming American Sole alongside Pete Davidson, O'Shea Jackson and Camila Mendes. Simultaneously, Quavo teased to paparazzi on Valentine's Day that Migos much-anticipated Culture III album is "coming real soon."
