Rooney Mara reportedly in line to portray Audrey Hepburn in forthcoming biopic

Rooney Mara will be going by Audrey Hepburn until further notice.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Mara is set to portray Hepburn in an untitled forthcoming Apple biopic directed by Luca Guadagnino ("Call Me By Your Name").

Deadline separately reported that Mara "is also producing the feature project," marking her third go as a producer after "The Truth About Emanuel" and "The End of Medicine."

Mara is a two-time Oscar nominee — best actress for "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and best supporting actress for "Carol" — and last appeared in Guillermo del Toro's now-playing "Nightmare Alley."

Hepburn was a dazzling Hollywood icon until her death from cancer in January 1993. She was 63 years old. As an actress, she first won an Oscar for best actress in 1953's "Roman Holiday." She earned four more best actress nominations throughout the '50s and '60s ("Sabrina," "The Nun's Story," "Breakfast at Tiffany's," "Wait Until Dark") before posthumously receiving the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
