'Saturday Night Live' reveals first four hosts, musical guests of Season 47

Kim Kardashian West and Halsey will handle Oct. 9's show, though Debra Messing doesn't understand why , followed by Rami Malik and Young Thug on Oct. 16 and Jason Sudeikis and Brandi Carlile on Oct. 23.

In other words, circle Oct. 23 on your calendar if you're eager for plenty of "Ted Lasso" sketches. Sudeikis served as a writer (2003-05) and writer-performer (2003-13) on "SNL." Toward the end of that time, Ted Lasso was inadvertently born, as detailed by Entertainment Weekly:

"NBC approached him about starring in a commercial to promote the network's broadcast of Premiere League matches. The pitches from the advertising agency included one about a shouty, belligerent football coach who becomes manager of an English soccer team. Sudeikis liked the idea, but not the character. 'I wanted to play something sillier,' he says. To help flesh out the idea, the SNL star recruited writer-producer Joe Kelly (SNL, How I Met Your Mother) and Hunt, who played Coach Beard in the commercial opposite Sudeikis' Ted Lasso. ('A name plus a noun is funny,' says Sudeikis on the origins of his alter ego.) The commercial, which aired in August 2013, was a viral hit, and another ad followed the next year."

Carlile, whose album In These Silent Days will drop Oct. 1, is particularly pleased to be paired with Sudeikis.

As for the others, Halsey released their fourth studio album "If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power" on Aug. 27, and SNL will mark her first proper appearance or performance promoting it. In the same vein, Musgraves' "star-crossed" landed Sept. 10, and Young Thug's "P*NK" is expected Oct. 15. Rami Malek has a supporting role in the highly anticipated "No Time To Die," Daniel Craig's final 007 film expected in U.S. theaters Oct. 8.

There is also intrigue surrounding the "SNL" cast and whom we may or may not see on the stage after the Season 46 finale left plenty of cliffhangers.
