'Spider-Man' producer advised Tom Holland and Zendaya against dating

People love Tom Holland and Zendaya's on-screen chemistry, considering Spider-Man: No Way Home's record-breaking box office numbers for its opening weekend, but Amy Pascal was initially wary of the two movie stars falling in love in real life.

Pascal previously served as Sony's top movie executive from 1999 to 2015, overseeing every Spider-Man live-action film in the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield eras, and she has produced all three of director Jon Watts' Spider-Man movies with Holland in the lead.

What do all three have in common, other than Pascal? Real-life romance.

"I took Tom and Zendaya aside, separately, when we first cast them and gave them a lecture," Pascal told The New York Times when asked about it in a recent interview. "Don’t go there—just don’t. Try not to. I gave the same advice to Andrew and Emma [Stone]. It can just complicate things, you know? And they all ignored me."

Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst starred as Peter Parker and MJ, respectively, in the first live-action trilogy from 2002-07 and briefly dated toward the beginning of that tenure. Garfield then assumed Spidey duties opposite Stone as Gwen Stacy for The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), and they were in a nearly four-year relationship until confirming their split in late 2015.

Holland and Zendaya seemingly couldn't be more in love as their romance become publicly undeniable after paparazzi caught them making out in a car this summer.

It should additionally be noted: Spider-Man: No Way Home, released last Friday (Dec. 17), brought all three Spider-Man actors together despite Holland and Garfield repeatedly lying to us all.
