A preview of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has arrived in the form of first-look images which show Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Hara, Jenna Ortega, Winona Ryder, and Justin Theroux in action.
36 years have passed since Tim Burton's 1988 film was released, and now there is a sequel with familiar faces returning.
Michael Keaton is back as Beetlejuice alongside Catherine O'Hara as Delia Deetz and Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz. They are joined by newcomers Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci and Justin Theroux.
Burton was asked by Entertainment Weekly why he chose to title the film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice over Beetlejuice 2. He said, "it didn't feel like Beetlejuice 2". Burton explained, "It didn't feel like that kind of a movie. The other one I thought of, because one of my favorite Dracula movies is Dracula A.D. 1972, was Beetlejuice 2024 A.D. But this was a nice simple one."
Michael Keaton recently revealed that bringing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice to life took years. Burton echoed his words to Entertainment Weekly, saying, "Unless it felt right, [Keaton] had no burning desire to do it".
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is ready to hit theaters on September 6, over 36 years after the release of Beetlejuice.
