Watch: Ariana Grande shares meticulous behind-the-scenes 'Positions' recording footage

Ariana Grande switched up the positions for every note in "Positions" several times before arriving at the final masterpiece.

The 27-year-old pop star shared behind-the-scenes footage from recording the track, meticulously and methodically choosing where to place her signature "Yeah" and "Mmm" or singing layering lines:

Grande previously shared studio footage from her recording session for the "Positions" outro:

Positions dropped Oct. 30 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, becoming her fifth album to top the chart. "It’s her third No. 1 in less than two years and three months—the fastest accumulation of three No. 1 proper studio albums ever by a woman," Billboard's Keith Caulfield relayed. The other two No. 1 albums were Sweetener, released August 2018, and Thank U, Next, following up shortly thereafter in February 2019.

"Positions" also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100—and as evidenced above, that was not by accident.
